Introduction
'Songs of Garden Guitars' (or 'SoGG') is a PMusic suite of four compositions inspired by birdsong and built almost entirely from improvised, processed guitar sounds. This piece draws upon my experience of playing improvised guitar in the 1980s, especially as part of the duo called '4 point paint' with guitarist Robin Watts. It is also influenced by the work and attitude of Derek Bailey and other musicians who similarly sought to go beyond the proscribed boundaires of their musical instrument, including Fred Frith, Arto Lindsay and many other 'amateur' improvising musicians.
